Under the name DJ Kezza I have performed at events in Edinburgh , Glasgow, London and a number of music festivals in the UK. I also collaborate with Collective Nonsense to co ordiante "Immersive events" at festivals such as Beatherder in Yorkshire.
My work as a DJ can involve hours of searching for new (and old) tunes .
My first “sound piece” created for the Heritage Hub in Hawick, Scottish Borders began with a similar strategy of searching the Scottish Borders Memory Bank in order to extract voices recorded in the past. Mixed with sounds of birdsong, horses, and local celebrations from the Borders sourced online, and interviews with young people taken from the community arts Windows To The Future project. The piece resulted in a 30 minute collage of everyday social discourse and curiosity.
